New technologies, such as digital image recording, high definition video streaming, fast, consistent and reliable internet access, social networks have greatly altered the way stories are told, produced, distributed and delivered.
According to Schriebman (year), technology may change, however, creativity will always be essential. Communicating to audiences will still be communicating to audiences, directing will still be directing. Moreover, creativity works best when it has limitations, as it forces one to be even more creative in order to surpass those limits. The latter are also present in the new avenues and formats, forcing one to think more creatively hence, this is a nurturing process in itself for the creative filmmaker.Rosen (year) defines a Creative Producer as an adroit juggler of multiple roles – at once a finance provider, resource manager, social engineer and above all: an obsessed visionary.
Transmedia is an approach to story delivery that aggregates fragmented audiences by adapting productions to new modes of presentation and social integration. The execution of a transmedia production weaves together diverse storylines, across multiple outlets, as parts of an overarching narrative structure. These elements are distributed through both traditional and new media outlets. The online components exploit the social conventions, and social locations, of the internet.
In this research Creative Producing will be examined as a holistic approach to the filmmaking process. Firstly identifying, optioning, developing, and pitching material; Secondly championing and challenging the writer/director creatively; raising financing; leading the casting/packaging process; hiring and inspiring crew; and finaly navigating the sales, distribution, and marketing arenas in order to be successful and sustainable in a Transmedia environment.
This study will examine the ways new technologies are impacting and influencing the ways stories are told. This includes how gaming, music, film and web affect storytelling. Furthermore this study will attempt to understand the impact of new models on financing, production, marketing, distribution as well as delivery methods.
